The differences between Tincture and juice

The Tincture The root provides long-term structural support, while the sap has a more immediate and stimulating effect. Tinctures generally contain more fat- and alcohol-soluble substances, while the sap is richer in water-soluble components such as mucilage. The shelf life also varies: a Tincture keeps well for a very long time. Teasel juice, even with alcohol, has a slightly shorter shelf life but is still long lasting.

What suits you: Tincture, juice or herb?

  • Teasel Tincture: concentrated, alcoholic and ideal for daily use.
  • Teasel sap: lower alcohol percentage and therefore slightly milder in use.
  • Dried teasel (leaf or root): for those who like to make their own natural herbal preparations.

Leaf or root – what's the difference?

  • Teasel leaf is softer and milder in character and can be a nice addition to your daily routine.
  • Teasel root has a deeper, grounding profile and is often used in more robust applications or treatments. This is partly because the root contains more active ingredients.

Is Teasel edible?

A frequently asked question is: is Teasel edible? Technically, parts of the Teasel plant are edible, but they are rarely used in cooking. The plant is bitter in taste and contains fibrous, prickly parts. Therefore, the active ingredients are usually processed into Tincture, juice, or herb for infusions. For internal use, it's therefore wise to choose one of the prepared forms, such as those we offer.
